Speed & Bloody Pingu!


Objective
Calculate the speed of travel for the Bloody Pingu!
Use the equation:
Speed = Distance / Time

Materials
*  Lab Book
*  Pen/Pencil
*  Stop Watch or Time device that measures seconds.
*  Bloody Pingu!

Directions
1.  Go to www.sci-con.com
2.  Click on the 8th Grade Physical Sciences Textbook image.
3.  Click the link to Physics.
4.  Click the image next to Motion to open the Bloody Pingu shockwave format game.
5.  To begin the game, click the left mouse button once, and the Penguin on the top of the rock should begin to fall.
6.  Click the mouse button again to make the Snow Monster swing its club and hit the falling penguin.
7.  On contact of the club and the penguin, begin the timing device.
8.  The penguin will fly through the air and once it stops, stop the timing device.
9.  The distance given is in Meters.
10.  Use the total time and total distance to calculate the speed of the penguin.
11.  Repeat these steps until 10 data points are collected.
12.  Calculate the speed of the penguin for each of the 10 attempts.
13.  Calculate the overall average speed of all attempts.
