Project Instructions:
- Groups will be assigned specific time periods:
- Paleozoic Era (Cambrian Explosion 544 - 505 million years ago)
- Paleozoic Era (505 - 360 million years ago)
- Paleozoic Era (360 - 245 million years ago)
- Mesozoic Era (245 - 144 million years ago)
- Mesozoic Era (208 - 65 million years ago)
- Cenozioc Era (65 million years ago - Present)
- Each group will research their period of time and give a
presentation to the class at the end of the time given by the teacher.
- Each member of the group is responsible for finding information
about a different living organism from the time period assigned, and is
responsible for answering the questions listed below during the
presentation.
- Each group will create a poster for their presentation. The
poster must include pictures of all living organisms being presented
and relevant information about the Geological Time Period being
presented. Be sure to include key information from the questions
listed below to aid in your presentation.
Presentation Questions:
- What time period is your group covering? Give
examples that demonstrate your understanding of how long this period
lasted, and a general summary of the type of life that developed during
the period.
- What was the Earth's environment like? How was it different
than the time period before and after yours?
- Present 5 significant events that occured during your time
period. What makes them significant?
- Each member will present examples of living organisms during the
time period.
- Give the name of the organism.
- Describe its importance in the time period.
- How did it evolve? What are its relatives both past and
present? Is it extinct today?
- How did your time period end? What happened and what
evidence do we have to explain what happened?
